A cross-border shipment needs transportation and documentation to stay aligned. VEXO Logistics coordinates freight movements between the United States and Canada, connecting pickup and delivery plans with the relevant border milestones. Transport options may include full truckload, LTL or expedited freight, subject to shipment acceptance.
Build the border plan before dispatch
Cross-border service can support regular supply movements, distribution shipments and one-time commercial orders. Planning should identify the importer, exporter, appointed customs broker, proposed crossing and receiving schedule. The right crossing depends on the lane, operating hours, commodity and provider arrangements; the shortest road route may not be the best operational choice.
Prepare complete shipment information
Customers should provide a commercial invoice, packing details, commodity descriptions, values, country-of-origin information and the importer and broker contacts. Additional permits, certificates or agency requirements may apply to the goods. Ask your customs broker which documents and authorizations are required before the truck is dispatched.
Keep transportation and customs milestones aligned
For an accepted shipment, VEXO can coordinate the pickup plan, communicate shipment references and follow up on the reported border status with the parties involved. Required carrier advance reporting and the customs release process are separate steps. A truck’s arrival at the crossing does not mean the goods have been released. Where applicable, coordinate PAPS references for U.S.-bound freight and PARS references for Canada-bound freight with the carrier and appointed customs broker. These references are not proof of customs release.
Allow for the complete journey
Border inspections, incomplete documents, broker processing, traffic and receiving restrictions can change the delivery plan. Tell us if the freight is time-sensitive, temperature-sensitive or subject to agency controls. Waiting, storage or rescheduling charges depend on the agreed terms and circumstances.
Common questions
Does VEXO replace my customs broker? No. Customs entry and clearance work remains with the appointed licensed broker or other authorized filing party.
Are duties included in the freight rate? Do not assume they are. Freight, brokerage, duties, taxes and other charges should be identified separately in the agreed scope.
Plan your cross border shipment
