Drop Trailer

Planned drop-and-hook or trailer-pool arrangements under a customer-specific written schedule.

Trailer pool at warehouse loading docks

A planned drop-trailer arrangement can give a facility more time to load or unload while supporting scheduled trailer exchanges. VEXO Logistics reviews drop-and-hook and trailer-pool requests around the customer’s volume, yard capacity and operating schedule.

Separate loading time from the truck visit

In a drop arrangement, an approved trailer is left at a facility for loading or unloading and collected later under the agreed plan. A drop-and-hook exchange may allow the driver to leave one trailer and collect another that is ready. The benefit depends on disciplined trailer readiness and a schedule the facility can support.

Size the arrangement to actual demand

Share shipment frequency, daily volume, average loading time, peak periods and expected trailer dwell. A trailer pool needs enough equipment to cover loading, transit, unloading and repositioning. Too few trailers can interrupt the schedule; unnecessary parked equipment adds cost.

Confirm site readiness and trailer control

The yard must provide suitable access, space and ground conditions for the accepted equipment. Agree on trailer identification, inventory checks, seals, custody, security and how damage will be reported. Clarify who can move trailers within the yard and whether separate yard-moving equipment is required.

Put the schedule and charges in writing

The customer-specific agreement should define trailer quantities, pickup windows, permitted dwell, free-time allowances if any, detention or rental charges, maintenance responsibilities and return conditions. VEXO reviews the proposed operation with qualified providers before confirming availability. A one-time drop does not automatically establish an ongoing trailer pool.

Common questions

Can we keep a trailer for several days? Possibly, if the duration and cost are accepted in advance and equipment is available.

Is drop-and-hook always faster? It can reduce driver waiting when the next trailer is ready. Yard access, inspections and readiness still affect turnaround.

Discuss a drop trailer program

Send your facilities, shipment frequency, expected dwell, trailer count and loading schedule. VEXO will review an arrangement suited to the proposed operation.
