Flatbed and Open Deck

Open-deck coordination for machinery, building products, materials and project cargo.

Freight that needs side loading, overhead lifting or an open platform requires the right trailer and loading plan. VEXO Logistics coordinates approved open-deck movements for machinery, building products, industrial materials and project cargo.

Choose equipment from measured dimensions

Flatbeds, step decks and other open-deck configurations serve different loading and clearance needs. Measure each item as it will be shipped, including packaging, protrusions and support frames. Individual piece weights and the distribution of weight across the load are as important as the combined shipment weight.

Plan loading and unloading

Tell us whether the site will use a crane, forklift, loading ramp or another method, and who supplies it. Provide access restrictions, ground conditions, appointment windows and any personal protective equipment requirements. Equipment selection should account for both ends of the journey, including how the freight will be lifted and supported.

Protect and secure the cargo

Identify approved tie-down points, blocking requirements and vulnerable surfaces. The carrier’s securement plan must suit the cargo and applicable rules. Tarps or other weather protection should be specified before dispatch, including any dimensions or special covering needs. Tarping does not create the same protection as an enclosed trailer.

Confirm the complete transport scope

VEXO reviews the lane, cargo information and site requirements to discuss suitable provider options. Freight beyond standard legal dimensions or weights may need an oversized-load assessment, permits or specialized equipment. Quote requests should include photographs or drawings where they clarify the load.

Common questions

Are tarps included? Only when the agreed service includes them. State the protection required and whether any part of the cargo can tolerate contact with a tarp.

Who supplies loading equipment? This must be agreed in advance. A flatbed booking does not automatically include a crane, forklift or rigging crew.

Request an open deck quote

Send dimensions, piece weights, photographs, pickup and delivery details, loading methods and weather-protection requirements. Availability and the final scope require confirmation.
