Drayage and Port Services

Port and rail container coordination through qualified providers when the commercial and operational scope is approved.

Container movements depend on more than the distance between a terminal and a warehouse. VEXO Logistics reviews port and rail drayage requests to align container availability, pickup access, delivery timing and equipment return through qualified providers.

Connect the terminal with the next location

Drayage usually covers the truck movement between a marine terminal or rail ramp and a nearby warehouse, distribution centre or other approved location. Import pickups, export deliveries and empty-container returns have different milestones. Tell us whether you need a live unload, a container drop or another handling arrangement.

Provide the container and release details

Share the terminal or ramp, container number, size and type, booking or release references, cargo weight and delivery address. The provider may also need availability status, pickup authorization and confirmation that relevant holds have been cleared. A vessel’s arrival does not by itself make a container available for collection.

Manage the time windows

Terminal appointments, receiving hours, last free day information, chassis availability and empty-return instructions all affect the plan. Provide current deadlines and identify who is responsible for checking them. An early review can help reveal conflicts before a driver is assigned, although terminal access and equipment remain subject to availability.

Understand potential additional charges

Waiting, chassis usage, storage, extra moves, pre-pulls and unsuccessful trips can affect cost. Demurrage, detention and related charges depend on the applicable provider terms and circumstances; confirm what is included and what may be billed separately. VEXO’s accepted scope should identify the move, equipment and timing assumptions.

Common questions

Can a container stay at my facility? A drop may be possible if the site, equipment availability, permitted use and return schedule are approved.

Is customs release included? Customs release is a separate process handled by the authorized party. The transport plan must align with the release status.

Plan a container move

Send the terminal, container details, weight, release status, delivery requirements and applicable deadlines. VEXO will review provider availability and the operational scope.
