Power-only service pairs an accepted trailer with a tractor and driver. It can support loaded trailer movements, empty repositioning or approved recurring routes. Because trailer ownership and transport responsibility may sit with different parties, the arrangement needs more detail than simply providing a pickup address.
Confirm trailer compatibility and condition
Provide the trailer type, identification number, dimensions, condition and location. Explain whether it is loaded, its gross cargo weight and whether special connections or operating instructions apply. The provider must be able to use the trailer safely, and required registration, inspection or maintenance information should be available for review.
Define the handover and return
Written instructions should cover permission to use the trailer, pickup and return locations, inspection records, permitted use and the process for reporting damage or breakdowns. Trailer interchange or other applicable liability requirements must be resolved before dispatch. A transport booking should not leave trailer custody or return responsibility unclear.
Build the schedule around both facilities
Confirm whether the trailer is ready to hook, whether a replacement empty is required and how the driver can access the yard. Delays, repairs, loading assistance, extra mileage and changes to the return location may affect the charge.
